Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (2011)
Guillermo del Toro produces this supernatural story about a little girl being besieged by demon-like creatures in her new home. A remake of another 70′s brit movie with same plot but changing the dame in peril from the missus to the little daughter whose overall is pretty lame, though it has some creepy and unnerving moments.

Some friends spend a weekend in the country where a serial killer, who has a knack for dismembers his victims and hangs the body parts in the trees, is on the loose. A good slasher with solid performances that smacks of old Hammer movies.

Third installment in the franchise Hostel, this time set in Las Vegas, where some bachelor party attendees were lured to a world of torture and death by some hookers. Directed by Scott Spiegel this flick adds nothing new to the universe created by Eli Roth and company.

A Lonely Place to Die (2010)
Some mountaineers find a serbian girl buried in a cave in the mountains and become targets of a bunch of sadistic kidnappers. This british movie is really a good one. Despite the trite story of cat and mouse, the plot develops in a really nail-biting pace where the chilling and suspenseful raw atmosphere is constantly shaken by jolts of violence. It has some likeness to Gonzalo López-Gallego’s El Rey de la Montaña, a must see spanish thriller. And Melissa George delivers a good performance.

Burning Bright (2011)
Briana Evigan stars this thriller about a woman and her autistic brother fighting for their lives against a flesh-eater tiger while being trapped in a house during a hurricane. Silly plot but pretty intense cat-and-mouse thriller with pausible performances. How the hell is a bloddthirsty tiger getting loose in Florida? Don’t ask me, I also didn’t buy the circus/safari show explanation.

Wakewood (2011)
A Hammer films production set in rural Ireland telling the story about the parents of a girl who was killed by a vicious dog and were granted the opportunity to spend some time with their deceased daughter by some devil worshippers who live in the village. Conveniently disturbing this psychological drama is better than many other horror movies out there, pity that everything around it smelled so low budget.
